In 2020, SVUDL launched its first state-approved curriculum, Rhetoric & the Art of Advocacy: Public Deliberation in Democratic Society. It followed suit in 2022 with a second state-approved curriculum, Literacy and Advocacy: An Introduction to the Speech Arts. These curricula are approved by the University of California (UC) system which means that they meet A-G requirements for college admittance. Having curricula fit this requirement provides incentives for schools to offer these classes, give students the ability to build on their requirements (increasing their candidacy for admittance to UC colleges), and helps increase our ability to recruit more students.
